Fulton Fish Market construction in Hunts Point moving along as scheduled

The builder of the new Fulton Fish Market told officials Tuesday things are going smoothly.

At the Hunts Point Economic Development Corporation's annual meeting, the builder of the market discussed the status of the project and said things were moving along on schedule despite the harsh winter.

The 6-acre state-of-the-art facility is expected to bring about 1,000 jobs to the south Bronx. Those behind the project say it's bringing a lot to the area. The commissioner of the NYC Department of Small Businesses says anytime you create jobs in a community the whole area is lifted. He says new jobs lead to a better quality of life.

The Fulton Fish Market project is set to be completed by the end of the year.
