Downed wire knocks out power at Holy Rosary School and surrounding area

A power outage in the Bronx leads to a day off Thursday for kids at Holy Rosary School.

A downed wire on Eastchester Road and Astor Avenue knocked out traffic lights and left kids at the Holy Rosary School sitting in the dark. Crossing guards and New York Transit officers had to step in and direct traffic in the area.

Con Edison was called to the scene and had the bulk of the problem fixed in less than an hour.
