Power outage in Throgs Neck, Castle Hill causes some problems for residents

Nearly 1,200 Throgs Neck and Castle Hill residents were left to get ready for work and school in the dark Monday morning.

Con Edison worked all morning to restore power. Con Edison workers say the outage was caused by a downed wire on Castle Hill Avenue between Trunbull and Lafayette avenues. Power was restored gradually to all residents by 9 a.m.

Con Edison officials say they are now looking into what caused the wire to come down, but add that it may have been weather related.
