Programs available to help entrepreneurs open businesses in the Bronx

'Space available' and 'for sale' signs now hang from storefront awnings throughout the Bronx. So city officials want residents to know it is possible to become a business owner in the Bronx.

In Port Morris, which is one of two Empire Zones in the Bronx, business owners get various tax breaks. Unfortunately, city officials say many residents feel there are too many hurdles to overcome when trying to start up a business.
