Pelham Parkway business owners say construction is hurting bottom line

Local business owners claim that construction on the Pelham Parkway train station is adversely affecting business.

Several owners of businesses along the parkway claim that the lack of parking created by the construction has reduced the amount of customers they normally accommodate during the week. One store owner claims the drop in business could force him to close his business altogether.

New York State Transit Authority officials say the construction and repairs are necessary to repair staircases, canopies, and lighting on the 88-years-old station. They also say they have no definite timetable on when the work will be finished.
