Construction is finally underway at Pelham Bay Park's Rice Stadium

Construction on Pelham Bay Park started but was halted due to the harsh winter weather. But now, crews are back on the job and working round the clock to get the park's makeover complete.

Work is being done to the park's Rice Stadium, which has been an integral part of the park for years. The track and field has already been ripped up as well as other areas in the park. Crews are also renovating areas to accommodate kids with special needs.

According to the area's Community Board, the project became a reality after money was set aside in the budget. Officials say the wear and tear over the years took its toll on the park. They say the renovations are for the residents who enjoy the park every day.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
