Hundreds attend rally in University Heights demanding quality of life changes

(03/27/04) UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS - Hundreds of Bronx residents held a rally on Saturday to demand changes in education, housing, and other issues they say affect their quality of life.

The Northwest Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition sponsored the rally, held at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church on Saturday afternoon. Many Bronx residents in attendance say they would like to see improvements made to the quality of education their children receive.

Folks who turned out for the protest are also calling for landlords to quickly make necessary repairs to their apartment buildings. They are also against the proposed plans to build a filtration plant in the borough.
