H.S. students learn what it takes to attend college at 'Bronx College Readiness Day'

(03/27/04) J.H.S. 143 - About 100 high school students from the Bronx went to the first annual "Bronx College Readiness Day" at Junior High School 143 on Saturday.

Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute sponsored the event to show kids what it takes to go to college. The students learned about topics like writing essays for college applications and how to obtain funding for their continuing education.

College and university officials sent representatives, who set up informational booths and answered questions for the kids. Many Bronx students say learning about higher education has them motivated to go to college. Click here for more information about "Bronx College Readiness Day."
