Police warn residents after recent reports of robberies in Pelham Bay, Throgs Neck

(03/28/04) THROGS NECK - Police officers from the 45 precinct say scam artists are targeting Pelham Bay and Throgs Neck residents. Cops say the crooks are stealing cash and other valuables from residents' homes. Now, authorities are urging residents to be extra careful when opening their doors.

Police say a scam artist talked her way into an elderly woman's home on Mulford Avenue on March 19. Cops say the homeowner invited the thief into her home for a cup of coffee, but an accomplice also came into the home, ransacking the upstairs and stealing thousands of dollars in cash and jewelry. A few hours later in Throgs Neck, cops say another deception burglary took place at the home of an 87-year-old woman.

Anyone with information on either of these incidents is asked to call police officers in the 45th precinct at (718) 822-4515.
