Pelham Bay residents volunteer to clean up Mesa Park

(04/04/04) PELHAM BAY - Sidney Flores, a neighborhood representative for Community Board 4 and 5, gathered a group of neighborhood kids to clean up the Mesa Park on Sunday.

Flores says he decided that he was tired of seeing his Pelham Bay neighborhood park in shambles, so he decided to do something about it. He and the group of volunteers brought shovels and garbage cans to clear the park of garbage, rocks, and empty bottles.

Once the park is clean, the neighborhood group members want the city parks department officials to plant new trees and build a new playground in Mesa Park.
