Throgs Neck residents notice increase in graffiti vandalism
(04/04/04) THROGS NECK - There was recently been a surge of graffiti vandalism in the northeast Bronx. Vandals were defacing Bronx storefronts, apartment buildings and even a public library in Pelham Bay. Now, Throgs Neck residents are seeing an increase in graffiti.
Vandals are defacing storefronts along East Tremont Avenue. A former beauty salon near Lafayette Avenue now has a smiley face and another marking that has been popping up in Throgs Neck. A few blocks down, the side of a Chinese take-out restaurant has been hit with graffiti.
Graffiti is considered a quality of life crime, so Bronx residents are urged to report it to 3-1-1 so the city can keep track of it and clean it up.
