Man struck in the Bronx by ambulette driver who says he fell asleep at wheel

A man is in critical condition after being struck by an ambulette Friday on the Grand Concourse and 156th Street.

The driver, Kevin Jones, says he fell asleep at the wheel. According to police, the ambulette jumped the curb and hit 21-year-old Jose Rosario who was carrying trash down the street.

Police say the driver was not under the influence and that the incident appears to be accidental. Jones says he does not remember most of what happened.
