Jacobi Medical Center's $250 million expansion almost complete

It's been three years in the making and now Jacobi Medical Center's $250 million expansion is almost complete.

The new building will add more than 300 beds to the center, and house a new psychiatric ward, pediatrics unit, and surgery and intensive care units. In addition, there will be a new emergency room.

Mayor Bloomberg has vowed to provide the center with $200 million to help cover operating expenses. The new building is expected to open by mid-summer or early fall.
