Volunteers wanted for 'Team Up To Clean Up The Bronx'

Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion Jr. has unveiled a new campaign called 'Team Up To Clean Up The Bronx.' The new initiative is aimed at cleaning up the image of the Bronx, and letting people know the borough is a good place to live and raise children.

The Department of Sanitation, the Parks Department and police will lead the campaign. The goal is to rid the borough of litter, illegal dumping, rodent infestation and graffiti.

Cleanup activities will kick off May 1. Volunteers interested in helping can do so by going to any of the Community Boards in the area. Organizers of the campaign say the key to success is for Bronx residents to make the effort.

So far, more than 800 people have signed up to help.
