Bronx parents and students hold rally in Claremont Park demanding safer schools

(05/01/04) CLAREMONT PARK - Bronx parents and students held a rally Saturday, demanding more school safety officers at P.S. 64 and C.S. 4.

A group of Bronx parents and students walked from each school. Then both groups met at Claremont Park. Bronx parents say their children cannot properly learn if they do not feel safe. Many Bronx children who came to the rally say they are afraid to go to school and would like to see more security inside and around school grounds.

The parent action committee organized the rally. Members of the Bronx group say they are in the process of setting up a meeting to address the issues with the NYPD officer in charge of school safety.
