Concerned Throgs Neck residents want drivers to slow down in some areas

(05/02/04) THROGS NECK - Some Bronx residents in Throgs Neck are complaining about drivers speeding through their neighborhood. Folks living around Throgs Neck Boulevard and Lawton Avenue say they want to see something done to stop the speeders before a possible tragedy.

Residents say the area has been the scene of several car accidents. They want to see a traffic light put up before something worse happens. People living in the neighborhood complain that there are no stop signs or signals to slow down drivers within a three-block stretch of Throgs Neck Boulevard. The concerned residents say they are worried about their children's safety with both a nearby school and little league ball field.

Officials from the Department of Transportation are investigating the area, and they will determine if a traffic light should go up.
