Suspicious package found at Bronx Borough Hall turns out to be nothing

A bomb scare Friday morning at Bronx Borough Hall made for some tense moments. Police evacuated the building after a court officer notified them of a suspicious package on the second floor.

Some people who were in the building at the time say following 9/11 whenever they are told to evacuate they think it could be a serious situation. Luckily though the package turned out to be nothing.

According to the Bronx borough president, procedure was followed and everyone proceeded out of the building via the stairs. This isn't the first time the building had to be evacuated. In February 2003, a suspicious package, which turned out to be just a bag with food, forced an evacuation.

Meantime, court officials say it turns out that the bag involved in Friday's incident actually belonged to a member of the court's custodial staff.
