Soundview residents protest site for new school

Soundview residents continue to speak out against a new school they say will be built on contaminated soil.

Bronx parents and community leaders are rallying against turning a former aviation electronic manufacturing plant into a high school. The proposed site of the future school is at the corner of Story and Colgate avenues.

The city's environmental study confirms that while some potentially dangerous elements are in the soil, the levels are low and won't hurt students. The Bronx group that protested the proposed school site wants an independent contractor to test the soil.
