Third-graders across the Bronx retake the citywide standardized English exam

Some third-graders across the Bronx once again took the citywide standardized English exam Wednesday.

The retest came about after 1,300 students used last year's exam to study for the current test. The problem according to the Department of Education was that some of this year's questions were duplicates of what was on the previous test, giving some kids an advantage. Students had a choice of whether or not to retake the exam.

The Department of Education says only about half of the 1,300 students opted to retake the exam. The students who chose not to will have their tests re-scored without the duplicate questions.
