Many in Morris Park say they're sorry to see Velella go

Longtime Bronx state Sen. Guy Velella (R-NY) handed in his resignation Friday, but many in his Morris Park district say they don't want to see him go.

Reports say the powerful Republican state senator resigned as part of a plea deal in a bribery probe. Velella is expected to enter a guilty plea Monday in Manhattan state Supreme Court.

Velella will get to keep a state pension worth up to $80,000 a year. The election to fill Velella's seat in the Bronx will be held in November during the general elections.
