March held in Mott Haven to increase minimum wage, improve quality of life

(05/22/04) MOTT HAVEN - Some Bronx residents criticized city politicians on Saturday during a march demanding a raise in minimum wage.

The demonstrators not only want a higher minimum wage, but they also want a better quality of life. They claim government officials are not doing enough to improve quality of life throughout The Bronx.

Members of the Coalition for Responsible Government and other organizations are asking for more affordable housing, a higher minimum wage and more funding for their public schools. They say these changes are the solution to a better life. Some homeless people say living conditions in the borough are worse then ever.
