Water restored to more than 100 houses in Morris Park after water main break
(05/23/04) MORRIS PARK - A water main break in the Morris Park section of The Bronx left more than 100 houses temporarily without water on Sunday.
Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) officials say the main water gate on Van Nest Avenue exploded, leaving a 12-inch break. The break, which happened at around 3 in the morning, affected houses stretching from Paulding Avenue to Colden Avenue. DEP workers put fliers on the doors of affected houses to explain the situation and ask for their patience, but some Bronx residents complained that the situation disrupted their day.
Water was later completely restored to all residents. City workers say they are still investigating to find the exact reason for the break.
