Lehman Lions advance to city volleyball championship for second year in row
The 2nd seed Lions took on 6th seed Grover Cleveland in the semifinals. The Lions went into the game just two games away from a city championship.
Early on in the game Cleveland dominated. With Radosla Wyrwas getting the kill, Cleveland took Game 1 25-17.
Then in Game 2, Cleveland went up 15-12 and was looking for more. But they were stopped by some great blocks by the Lions, who then came back to take a 24-21 lead. The Lions tied it up 1 game apiece, winning 25-21.
In a winner takes all Game 3, Lehman jumped out ahead 7-2. That didn't last for long with Cleveland making a come back and going ahead 12-11. But that didn't stop the Lions as they came back fighting and went on to win 25-20.
Lehman now advances to the city finals for the second straight year. They will take on two-time defending champions McKee Staten Island Tech.
