PS 194 parents rally to bring a crossing guard to the school

Parents protested in front of PS 194 Tuesday afternoon because they want a crossing guard at the school.

Parents say the corner of Westchester Avenue and Parker Avenue, where the school is located, is a very dangerous intersection for children to cross. Officials say two children were hit by cars crossing Westchester Avenue in May.

The Department of Transportation told News 12 The Bronx that the parents' request for a traffic light has been granted. According to the DOT, an officer at the 45th Precinct made the request last September. Officials from the DOT say the light was scheduled to go in last week, but technical problems under the road delayed the project. They say the light should be in place by the end of the summer.
