Police report second attempted abduction in Throgs Neck within five months
(06/13/04) THROGS NECK - Police say there has been another attempted abduction in Throgs Neck. The last such incident happened in February, and the latest attack happened Saturday evening. Cops tell News 12 The Bronx they do not believe the same person is responsible for both attempted kidnappings. Police are currently searching for the people responsible.
During this weekend's incident, a 14-year-old Bronx girl fought off her attacker after police say a man tried to pull her into his white van. Cops say the girl then punched him, and he drove away.
The attempted kidnapping happened in front of 832 Calhoun Avenue. According to NYPD statistics, crime has dropped nearly 12 percent in that area during the last two years.
Police have not released a complete description of the latest attempted kidnapper, but they ask anyone with information on the incident to call Crime Stoppers at (1-800) 577-TIPS (8477).
