Health officials want Bronx residents to be wary of heart disease

Studies show that the Bronx has some of the highest rates of heart disease, prompting public health officials to encourage awareness and prevention of the ailment.

City officials say the increased number of heart disease victims can be attributed to the high rates of obesity, smoking and diabetes found in the borough. Officials also say a lack of access to health care may be another reason several Bronx residents are not screened for the disease.
