Almonte was in the Scorecard section of this week's edition of Sports Illustrated. He was honored on his job for Monroe High School in the PSAL city championship game. Writers called it redemption for Almonte. They described his performance against George Washington High School as masterful.

The magazine also quoted a major league scout who was at the game. The scout called Almonte one of the best high school sophomores in the country.
