Mayor unveils new plan aimed at preventing homelessness in BX and city

Mayor Michael Bloomberg unveiled a new plan Wednesday aimed at preventing homelessness in the Bronx and city.

In the Bronx, those who are homeless often go to the EAU shelter and are then transferred to other temporary shelters. Under the mayor's new plan, he wants put an end to homelessness rather than build new shelters.

The mayor's 10-year plan focuses on providing more money to help residents facing eviction and to aid residents in finding permanent housing.

Critics of the plan still believe more shelter space is needed.
