Police search for hit-and-run driver who killed an elderly Bronx woman

Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver who killed an elderly woman Friday.

Witnesses say the woman was crossing the street at the corner of East Gun Hill Road and Hull Avenue when she was hit by a truck. Police say the shopping cart she was pushing was thrown at least 30 feet and the woman was killed on impact.

Neighbors say the woman, known as Margaret, was about 90 years old. Police have few details about the accident, but are looking for the driver of a white truck. They say the truck is smaller than an 18-wheeler and is an international truck.

Police are asking anyone with any information to call Crime Stoppers, (1-800)-577-TIPS (8477).
