Zoning plan to scale down development in Throgs Neck is unanimously approved

(06/26/04) THROGS NECK - Community Board 10 has recently unanimously approved the city's plan to scale down large homes in Throgs Neck.

The new zoning proposal calls for one-family homes to have two parking spots. Two-family homes will have to offer three spaces to ease parking problems in the Bronx neighborhood. The plan also calls for developers to follow strict waterfront guidelines.

Some Throgs Neck residents believe the plan's approval came too late and say their neighborhood is already over-developed.

Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion Jr. plans on holding a public hearing on June 29 before he makes his recommendations about the proposal. The forum will take place at 10 a.m. at the Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation.
