Bronx Democrat enters race for former Senator Guy Velella's seat

The race to fill the State Senate seat left vacant by former Senator Guy Velella continues as another Bronx Democrat throws his hat in the ring.

Assemblyman Jeff Klein (D-Bronx) announced he will run for the Senate seat. He joins Assemblyman Stephen Kaufman (D-Bronx) in the race. The seat was vacated after Velella resigned from his post. After resigning, Velella pleaded guilty to bribery charges. He is now serving a one-year prison sentence.

Meantime, Assemblyman Klein has received the endorsement of Bronx Democratic leader Jose Rivera.
