Schools Chancellor removes 45 principals from Bronx and city public schools
Schools Chancellor Joel Klein has removed 45 principals from Bronx and city public schools. Seven of the principals were from Bronx schools.
Some of the principals were given other jobs within the school system, some retired, and others were forced to leave the school system permanently. Klein said poorly performing principals had to be removed because schools can't succeed unless there are good principals.
Meantime, Klein was in Long Island City Tuesday to discuss the principal training academy, which is in its second year. More than 90 potential principals will take part in the training over the summer. Klein did not comment on whether any of the principals in the academy would replace those removed from their jobs.
