Borough President Carrion mulls Throgs Neck zoning proposal

Throgs Neck residents are hoping a new zoning plan will limit the amount of development in their neighborhood.

Community Board 10 has recently approved a new zoning plan that may prevent developers from building large homes in the Throgs Neck area. The new proposal limits the size of new houses and mandates that all new three-family homes offer three parking spaces to ease parking congestion.

The zoning plan has also been approved by the Department of City Planning and has received the backing of Mayor Bloomberg. However, it still needs to be given the green light by Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion to take effect. The borough president's office held a public meeting about the plan Tuesday. Carrion now has 30 days to make a recommendation for or against the proposal.
