Mosholu Golf Course officially selected for site of filtration plant

Despite years of debate, the Department of Environmental Protection officially selected the Mosholu Golf Course as the site of a new water filtration plant.

The decision, which was handed down Thursday, brings the debate over whether to place the plant in Westchester an an industrial site or in the Bronx. The DEP surveyed the Bronx and Westchester locations and found building in Westchester would have been more costly.

The plant will be built under the Mosholu Golf Course in Van Cortdlant Park. City officials say they will restore the park after the plant is built.
