Community pride celebrated in Clason Point on their garden's sixth anniversary

(07/03/04) CLASON POINT - Residents in Clason Point celebrate community pride during the Fourth of July weekend. At the center of the celebration is their garden. Six years ago, it was an abandoned lot used for illegal dumping.

Now, the waterfront community garden is a symbol of community pride. Residents say the garden has played a major role in getting people to take pride in their own roots.

For more information about how to get access to starting a community garden in any Bronx neighborhood, visit the New York City Parks and Recreation Department Web site or the The New York Botanical Garden Web site.
