Fordham Road, 170th Street, 176th Street subway stations close for renovations

(07/04/04) UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS - More service changes are coming to the Number 4 train as the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) works to renovate more of The Bronx's crumbling subway stations.

The MTA just finished work at the 167th Street and Mount Eden subway stops. Now starting Monday, the Fordham Road, 170th Street and 176th Street stations will close through November for renovations. Major repairs include three new elevators at the Fordham Road station.

MTA officials advise straphangers to plan ahead for their trips whenever subway changes take affect. Many Bronx residents say they welcome the overhaul but say they are not happy about the service changes.
