Summer riding program begins at Bronx Equestrian Center in Pelham Bay

The summer riding program at the Bronx Equestrian Center in Pelham Bay has begun.

At the center, children learn about maintaining horses as well as how to ride them. Most campers stay for a week, but others can go for just a day or several weeks if there is space available. The riding program is geared for kids over the age of 7. Officials at the center say the program is good for Bronx kids because they do not get exposed to such big animals every day.

Appointments must be made for trail lessons, but children and adults can come by anytime for a pony ride.
