Belles softball squad wins division crown, advances to state finals

(07/11/04) PELHAM BAY - The New York Metro Softball 14-and-under Division Championship was held at Pelham Bay Field on Sunday. The Belles from the Bronx hosted Glen Cove from Long Island in a state semifinal game.

The Belles are the defending state champions, and they are in search of back-to-back state titles. Six of the Belles players have returned from last year's championship team.

The game was a pitcher's duel. The score was 1-1 into the eighth inning. That is when Victoria Galasso hit what would be the game-winning RBI to deep left, scoring Jasmine Alicia from second base. The Belles win the game 2-1 and advance to the state finals.
