Bronx workers could earn more if a bill to raise minimum wage is approved

A bill making its way through Albany could affect how much Bronx workers earn.

The current minimum wage is $5.15 but some state lawmakers want to raise it by as much as $2. Supporters of the bill say it's time to give workers more disposable income especially since most people earning minimum wage are adults.

However, opponents of the bill say raising the minimum wage is not a solution. They say an increase could hurt businesses.

So far, there is no clear indication of when a decision on the minimum wage bill will be made.
