State lawmakers agree on education aid for schools in the Bronx and NYS

State lawmakers have finally reached an agreement on education aid for Bronx and city public schools as well as schools in New York State.

The debate over school aid has been going since last year when the state's highest court ruled that state lawmakers must come up with a way to provide more money to city schools. Lawmakers missed the July 30 deadline given by the court but were able to reach an agreement Monday.

The education aid package could mean more state aid for Bronx and city schools for the 2004-05 school year.
