Report shows some Bronx subway stations among worst in city

(08/04/04) NORWOOD - A recent report completed by the New York City Transit Rider's Council has given failing grades to several subway stations in the Bronx. The 205th Street and Bainbridge Avenue station in Norwood received the dubious distinction of being voted worst in the city.

Corrosion, chipping paint and water damage all factored into the Norwood station's bad ranking. Some transit workers, who did not wish to be identified, say they are worried about their health while working in such conditions. One transit employee says it looks like the MTA has completely ignored and neglected the Norwood station.

Transit Rider's Council representatives say even though four Bronx stations were cited as being among the city's worst, there are currently no plans by the MTA to renovate them.
