Bronx third-graders prepare for last chance to pass standardized exams
With summer school winding down, Bronx and city third-graders have just one weekend left to study for the standardized English and math re-tests.
Thousands of third-graders attended the Summer Success Academy in preparation for taking the tests again. Third-graders cannot be promoted to the fourth-grade if they don't pass the tests as part of Mayor Bloomberg's new social promotion policy. Despite the policy, some third-graders were promoted even after failing the tests because they had good grades.
The re-tests will be given from Monday to Wednesday.
