Tips to stay safe with powerful storms set to move through the Bronx

Residents in the Bronx are bracing for some wild weather as two powerful storms move up the coast. The threat of severe weather has experts warning residents about ways to stay safe.

Con Edison officials say residents should stay away from downed power lines. If you happen to drive over a power line, Con Ed says stay in the car because the rubber tires will provide protective insulation.

While indoors, experts say unplug appliances, TV sets and other equipment. Residents are also urged not to use the phone unless it is an emergency and not to take a bath or shower during an electrical storm.
