S. Bronx residents oppose plan to build power plant and two jails in Hunts Point

There is word the city is close to making a deal with a developer to allow a new power plant and two new jails on a 30-acre site in Hunts Point.

The proposal would include a 1075-megawatt power plant.

Community groups in the South Bronx say they don't want the new jail and they say the power plant would only worsen asthma and other health problems in the area.
