Construction accident floods two Bronx homes on Duncan Street

(08/21/04) THE BRONX - A construction accident flooded two Bronx homes on Duncan Street between Colden and Radcliff avenues Friday evening. City officials say workers were upgrading the area's sewer and water mains.

The Department of Design and Construction (DDC) says a worker did not put the cap on a water main tight enough, causing gallons of water to flood the homes. The DDC says a worker then came back to put it on properly to stop water from pouring out.

Both homeowners say they plan to file a claim with the city comptroller's office for their damage. They have 50 days to get the paperwork completed. There is currently no word on how much the repairs will cost.
