St. Ray's grad opts to return to college and put off dream of playing in the NBA
With his family struggling financially, some thought St. Raymond's 2004 ACC Player of the Year Julius Hodge would skip finishing college and shoot for the NBA. But instead he made his mother proud by deciding to return to Carolina State.
Hodge was projected to be a lottery pick in the NBA draft, but in the end he put off a possible guaranteed multi-million dollar contract.
By staying in college, Hodge will have another former St. Ray's player as a teammate. Gavin Grant will be a freshman for the Wolfpack this fall. Grant says he's happy Hodge decided to stay because it will make his transition from high school to college easier.
