Vandals strike Van Cortlandt golf course, possibly in protest of GOP Convention

Police are looking for suspects that hacked away at the fairways of Van Cortlandt golf course and spray-painted anti-Republican National Convention messages on the greens.

Officials say the damage was discovered just before the Republican National Convention delegates arrived for their Friday morning tee-time. Some are saying the chewed up greens may have been meant to spoil outings for the golfers in town for the convention. The spray-painted messages read things like "stop the war" and "politics isn't business."

The general manager of the golf course says the grounds crews worked quickly to fix the damage. The course has been open for business since noon Friday. No arrests have been made and police are still investigating.
