Republicans discuss importance of education at Bronx charter school

Some Republican delegates left the convention floor Tuesday to visit the Bronx Preparatory Charter School in the Bathgate section. Schools Chancellor Joel Klein joined U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Ann Veneman to announce support for the school. As part of the "Day of Compassion," $150,000 was also presented to the school. Protesters were not seen at the event. However, fliers were placed on cars asking the delegates to ask the governor and president to change the school aid formula for city schools.
