Group of GOP delegates chip in at a Habitat for Humanity project in Mott Haven

A group of Republican delegates hung up their suits Tuesday and put on paint scrubs to lend a hand for a Habitat for Humanity project in Mott Haven.

The group put the convention and politics aside for several hours to pitch in on painting and planting for Habitat for Humanity. Most of the delegates were from Arkansas and New York and helped put the finishing touches on 13 habitat houses.

Habitat for Humanity officials say the donation of time is appreciated. They say it also helps get the word out about the need for more affordable housing.

Habitat held a similar event for the Democratic National Convention in Boston.
