Some residents request speed bumps to slow down drivers in Bathgate

Some residents are requesting more speed bumps to slow down drivers in Bathgate.

Some Bronx residents fear the speeding cars on Bathgate Avenue will one day kill someone, and they say the city is not doing anything to make the neighborhood safer. Residents have contacted local leaders and the Department of Transportation (DOT) about the speeding because they want to protect their children.

While some people want more speed bumps, other neighbors say accidents occur when cars ignore the stop sign on 178th Street. Those residents believe putting up a four-way stop sign would prevent collisions.

A DOT spokesperson says the department is looking into the neighbors' concerns about Bathgate Avenue.
